Meat Import Council of America Welcomes Michael Skahill as Executive Director

MICA today announced that Michael Skahill has been named the organization’s Executive Director, following the retirement of former Director Bill Westman.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Mike to the Executive Director role in MICA,” Chairman Dana Ehrlich said. “His wealth of knowledge and experience with both the meat industry and agricultural trade will be a strong asset to guide MICA and its diverse members in the coming years.”

Skahill brings years of experience in the food and agriculture sector both domestically and in international markets. Previously, he was Global Director of Government Affairs for Lineage Logistics, the world's largest temperature-controlled warehouse real estate investment trust.  Prior to that role, Skahill was with Smithfield Foods for 23 years as Vice President of International Sales and Government Affairs. He has also held leadership positions with Louis Dreyfus Corporation, the United States Meat Export Federation (USMEF), and Cargill, Inc. Skahill has also served as a delegate to the National Pork Board, where he recently served as Vice Chairman, and on several agricultural committees, including the U.S.-China Agricultural Food Partnership and the USMEF trade committee.

“I look forward to representing the imported meat  industry in Washington.  Meat imports represent  an integral component of America’s food security and supply chain,” says Skahill.

Skahill is a native of Dubuque, Iowa and currently resides with his wife in Alexandria, Virginia.
